Jakovljev: “An honour to be included alongside so many talented individuals in the world of Information Design…”

Mihajlo Jakovljev, the founder of Octavian Consulting, received international acclaim for his complex data visualizations. In 2024, two of his works were featured in the IdN World Magazine v29n2: Infographic & Data Visualisation — Complexity Clarified!. Based in Hong Kong, IdN (International designers’ Network) is an international publication for creative people to amplify and unify the design community. IdN serves as a beacon for the global design community, fostering connections and inspiration among creative minds worldwide.

“You can either cultivate your style and apply it to any brief, or fully adapt to the assignment at hand. There is no right answer, and finding the right balance is difficult at first. There’s a discrepancy between supply and demand in this niche industry. On the one hand, there’s a plethora of incredibly talented information designers. On the other hand, many small and large clients still don’t think about these things. It’s simply a sign of the times. I have no doubt that eventually, having information designers on your team will be an indispensable asset.” – Mihajlo Jakovljev, excerpt from a short interview for the IdN World Magazine v29n2: infographic & Data Visualisation — Complexity Clarified!

“I would like to express my thanks to IdN for reaching out. It’s truly an honour to be included alongside so many talented individuals in the world of Information Design. It is becoming ever more important to consider not only the essence of the message we are trying to convey, but also how it looks like. This is especially true for academia. For this reason, turning complex data into visually appealing, meaningful and understandable formats for any audience becomes indespensible in every success metric imaginable. Magazine outlets, such as IdN, shine a light on trully remarkable creative people focused on presenting data. Unfortunately, visual communication is still underutilized. In the years to come, we can expect this to change”, commented Jakovljev.
